Tree Surveyors are one of the most important links in the Arboricultural chain, in most cases they are the first point of contact to start the tree works process and are vital in decision making process for the preservation or removal of our clients trees.
At VMS, our tree surveyors have several years of experience working on all scales of surveys from single tree inspections to multiple trees or groups on commercial, water and rail sites and BS 5837 tree surveys. Our Surveyors also have an excellent understanding of construction principals and experience in the construction industry.
The VMS approach
Our tree surveyors range from Level 3 to Level 5 qualifications in Arboriculture and are members of the Arboricultural Association and have an excellent knowledge of wood decaying fungi and the identification and interpretation of signs and symptoms of ill health and structural failure across a wide range of tree species and circumstances. They can Identify the legal framework in the context of statute and common law that affects tree inspection and the duties and liabilities of the owner, manager, and inspector. State the appropriate control/remedial measures required to eliminate or reduce risks identified in the inspection process to an acceptable level
We have an excellent reputation with our client base on delivering pro active cost effective management solutions from our surveys and are often used to secure successful planning applications for the works recommended forging excellent relationships between VMS, our Clients, local planning authorities and Tree officers.
VMS also has inhouse ecologists that can offer surveys for protected species inc birds, bats, dormice, newts, reptiles, water vole, Otters and badgers and their habitat and assist with ecological input on vegetation works. We have experience of undertaking surveys for a wide range of species in a wide range of environments including on site watching briefs offering live guidance or pre site written reports and Environmental Statements. The ability to produce reports and offer onsite guidance using inhouse resource offers a cost-effective approach to ecological issues on your Tree or vegetation projects.
Determine when an aerial inspection is required and as our surveyors are also fully qualified climbers carry out that aerial inspection, also if pro-active management recommendations can be made which may eliminate future defects from forming.
With the qualifications held and the experience in place we at VMS understand that a balance between the remedial measure opted for and the range of benefits/values that a tree may have requires special attention, for example, amenity, wildlife, historical, veteran, rarity, and public access.
